Suicide rates have been steadily climbing in recent years, a stark reminder of the silent epidemic plaguing our society. This grim trend is not confined to any particular demographic or geographic region; it cuts across all boundaries. While a myriad of factors contribute to this alarming increase, the role of religious institutions, particularly churches, warrants serious examination.

The Decline of Eternal Truths.

In the past, churches were pivotal in instilling a sense of purpose and hope, rooted in the belief of an afterlife. The eternal consequences of one’s choices, both good and bad, served as a powerful deterrent against despair and self-harm. However, in contemporary times, many churches have shied away from preaching the full spectrum of biblical truth. Instead of confronting sin and its eternal ramifications, they often focus on a watered-down message of love and acceptance, devoid of any real challenge or conviction.

The Danger of Relativism.

By downplaying the seriousness of sin and the urgency of salvation, churches inadvertently contribute to a culture of relativism, where morality is subjective, and consequences are minimised.
